Primary Responsibilities:
The Small Business Division UI Design group is tasked with designing the user experience for the QuickBooks family of products and services. These include the desktop application as well as integrated web applications.
Our group creates elegant, appealing, and extensible designs through user-centered design practices. These practices include gathering user needs, setting standards for design development, serving as user advocates on development teams, and performing usability testing for effective design iteration.
Primary responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing interface designs and/or design consulting on product teams from concept development through delivery.
- Responsible for definition and design of new products in new markets as well as incremental re-work of current desktop and Internet-based products.
- Aid in concept development through focus groups, user interviews, surveys and observational studies.
- Work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team, including members of the Engineering, Marketing, Product Support, QA, and Documentation teams.
- Manage the design process, drive decisions, create schedules, track issues.
- Deliver prototypes, mock-ups, and design specifications for your designs.
- Perform design reviews and usability testing during various phases of the product development to evaluate and iterate the designs.
- Collaborate with designers and product developers to maintain consistent look and feel across the product lines.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Minimum BA/BS degree in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology or related field.
- 7+ years of interface design experience.
- Strong knowledge of interface design processes and methodology and the issues for desktop and internet-related applications.
- Familiarity with one or more prototyping tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to prioritize and plan schedules, estimate project effort, develop process for all design requirements, track issues, conduct risk assessments, assign resources and meet deadlines with high quality work that meets business, user, and design objectives
- Strong team player with excellent leadership and influencing skills with experience leading projects and teams
Desirable Skills:
- Advanced degree (MS, Ph.D.) in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology or related field.
- Proficiency with rapid prototyping tools such as PhotoShop, Dreamweaver, and Visual Basic.
- Proficiency with HTML, DHTML, JavaScript.
- A minimum of 1 year of direct Internet-related design experience including the design and usability testing of web sites and web-based products.
