St. Jude's Hospital Contract Position

Jan 26 04

St. Jude Medical's Human Factors team is looking for a contractor who can develop and maintain an interactive prototype of a new software application, based on detailed user interface mockups and design specifications. The position involves working closely with two interaction designers in order to produce a prototype that illustrates a broad range of interactions in the system. The prototype will be used for internal communication within the organization and externally for marketing/sales purposes. Although implementation details would be left to the contractor, the target platform for the prototype is Internet Explorer, and it should be portable (i.e., not dependent on server-side scripting).
Desired experience and skills includes: Development of interactive web-based applications and/or prototypes. Extensive experience with DHTML and JavaScript. The team is using Fireworks to create UI mockups, so experience with Fireworks and Dreamweaver are a major plus. Ability to work closely with others to understand requirements, but manage and complete work independently.
The duration of the contract would be open-ended, starting with approximately 1 month of full time work, then approximately half-time work for at least another 2 months. Contractor must be able to work on-site in Sylmar, CA as needed (probably for most of the first month), but can also work off-site as appropriate. Compensation commensurate with experience, but there's no travel budget. Potential for future work if the relationship works out. Desired start date: February 2, 2004.
Principals only, please contact: Elizabeth Bacon, Sr. Human Factors Specialist at St. Jude Medical, CRMD. Work phone: 818-493-3635, work email: ebacon at sjm.com.
