Primary Responsibilities:
Work with software companies in a consultant capacity to design and drive the user experience for software products and websites.
Participate as a leader and contributor with an interdisciplinary team that includes Development, Product Management, Product Marketing, Project Management, Product Support, Usability, Quality Assurance, Training and Documentation.
Translate product requirements into user profiles & personas, user scenarios, and storyboards to ultimately create the user experience for a software product.
Design and specify user interfaces using participatory and iterative design techniques, including observational studies, user interviews, usability testing, and other forms of user input.
Perform design reviews and work with usability experts to perform testing during various phases of the product development process.
Work closely with development teams to ensure that design specifications are implemented.
Work closely with team members to produce user interface design specifications and prototypes that communicate the user experience of a product.
Manage the design process, drive decisions and track user interface issues with clients.
Qualifications for this Position:
Strong knowledge of the software development process and the role of user experience in that process.
Strong knowledge and experience with user interface design processes and methodology.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to independently drive projects and decisions with clients and product teams.
Experience developing: user profiles and personas, user scenarios, navigation flow charts, storyboards, wireframes, prototypes and user interface specifications.
Experience with user task analysis, user conceptual modeling, interaction design, and usability testing.
Experience working as a contributor to an interdisciplinary team that includes Development, Product Management, Product Marketing, Project Management, Product Support, Usability, Quality Assurance, and Documentation.
Requirements:
At least 5 years of user interface design experience building commercial software products Strong knowledge of software development and user interface design processes Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as PhotoShop, Illustrator, Visual Basic, HTML Generators, Flash and UML Experience with Web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS Excellent communication and organization skills Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design or a related discipline
