The Director of User Experience (UX) will be responsible for delivering compelling user experiences across all of GSI Commerce's webstores. The Director will lead the definition of a long term User Experience vision, and champion customer-oriented improvements and Usability best practices.
Specific responsibilities include:
Define and maintain a multi-year UX roadmap
- Engage business units and partners, and perform market and competitive assessments to identify UX improvement opportunities, issues, and risks
- Develop a strategic plan to address issues and risks, and align improvement opportunities with business needs
- Work with business units and the technology team to prioritize improvement programs and align resources toward their delivery
Provide thought leadership for Usability best practices
- Interact with business units, technology teams, and partners to promote Usability-oriented designs and methods
- Evangelize Usability principles by establishing training and educational workshops
Champion and drive the delivery of key UX capabilities, including:
- On-line A/B testing
- Usability Lab testing/User research
- UX metrics and key performance indicators
Implement User Experience Governance
- Provide strategic direction and steering for UX initiatives
Requirements
- 7-10 years experience managing teams
- 4+ years experience leading UX initiatives for large, consumer-oriented web sites
- Demonstrated ability to drive strategic planning, manage long-term roadmaps and implement integrated, cross-functional plans
- Demonstrated ability to articulate the value of user-centric designs to enterprise clients and senior level executives
- 5+ years experience developing user-centric designs and information architectures for web and interactive applications is desired
- 4+ years experience with Internet retailing
- Good technical understanding of web-based application and systems development
- Formal education and training in user interface design and Usability
