Human Factors Engineer

Responsibilities
This individual will design, prototype, and document SAS product user interfaces. Duties will include developing user profiles in detail including demographic and psychographic characteristics; performing task analysis and goal analysis; translating user needs into user and functional requirements; conducting heuristic evaluations; applying psychological and physiological principles of human behavior to the design and development of products; planning and conducting formal usability tests and field trials; analyzing data and providing recommendations to product development teams; working with product development team to ensure product usability; and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Factors; Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, or related field; Four years of graphical user interface design experience, including two years building usability prototypes in Visual Basic, Java Swing, or HTML and two years applying human factors to software development process;
Excellent knowledge of human-computer interaction techniques and issues for Windows, and the World Wide Web platforms; Excellent graphic design knowledge and skills; and Excellent overall communications, teamwork, writing, problem solving and analytical skills.
Preferences
Masters in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, or related field; Two or more semesters of graduate-level statistics coursework; Experience designing and evaluating browser-based applications; Experience applying 508 accessibility standards to system design; Experience programming in Visual Basic, JSP, HTML, or Java Swing.
Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience may be considered in place of the above requirements.
