Twelve-month post-doctoral position in HCI in Marseilles, France
INRIA, the French national center for the study of computer science and robotics, is currently offering a number of 12-month post-doctoral positions for research at the overlap between computer science and other disciplines. See:
http://www-sop.inria.fr/act_recherche/formation/offres_de_post-doc_sur_sophia_en.shtml
This announcement is concerned with one of these jobs, under the heading
"FLYING AS A METAPHOR FOR MULTI-SCALE NAVIGATION".
The research is part of the MICROMEGAS project (http://insitu.lri.fr/micromegas/), a multi-disciplinary project based on a four-lab consortium. The focus is on the design and evaluation of a novel approach to interactive document visualization based on the metaphor of a 6-degree-of-freedom virtual camera that the user can freely translate and orient. An outline of the research subject for that position is available at http://www-sop.inria.fr/act_recherche/formation/offres_de_post-doc_sur_sophia_en.shtml#umr6153.
Applications are welcome from computer scientists specializing in HCI and experimental psychologists. Expertise in the fields of computer input and/or information visualization and/or ecological optics will be particularly appreciated. The research will take place in the Mouvement et Perception Lab (Marseilles, France) under the supervision of Dr Yves Guiard, in close collaboration with Pr Michel Beaudouin-Lafon (Laboratoire de recherche en informatique, Paris).
Applications from abroad will be examined with special attention. The deadline for the reception of applications at INRIA is Friday, April 2nd, 2004 (a short notice, but this is still doable, as there is little paperwork). Candidates should first contact Dr Yves Guiard guiard at laps.univ-mrs.fr
