User Interface Designer (Human Factors Engineer, Usability Engineer or UI
Architect)
3-6 month contract (with excellent chance for extension or permanent
placement) to start immediately in Salt Lake City, UT.
We have an opening for an enthusiastic and experienced User Interface Designer to help make an exciting product vision a reality - from it’s function and behavior, to it’s visual appearance, you will be responsible for transforming a complex concept into an effective and accessable solution.
Because of the complex nature and importance of this project, we are only looking for applicants that have 7+ years of experience, who have honed their practice across a wide range of industries, and who can demonstrate examples of well-planned and thoughtfully designed products. We are looking for someone that that loves a challenge, and excels at transforming even the most complex technologies into clear, accessible solutions that people love to use, from customer relationship management software, to healthcare solutions, to business intelligence applications.
Key Skills:
- Research and interviews to capture appropriately the tasks and goals of the users and the contexts in which they will use the product. Utilize various techniques (e.g., customer visits, interviews, surveys, & focus
groups) to derive initial user experience requirements. Develop user profiles and assist in Use Case development. Gather and analyze customer requirements and usability data as needed for project assignment. Lead others in corporation to embrace and become engaged in our customer understanding.
- Develop hi-fidelity mockups, rapid prototyping with lo-fidelity mockups, detailed development plans that describe a precise picture of the form and behavior of the product. Working knowledge of prototyping tools, such as Flash, Visio, or PowerPoint. Expert knowledge of UI designs and methodologies, interaction modeling and design for both thick and thin clients.
- Collaborate and communicate your vision of the solution with others, including product management, sales and marketing, engineering and other product development constituencies. Ability to effectively present ideas with self-confidence and self-assurance when communicating with individuals and groups.
- Assists development teams in deploying consistent and effective UI.
Iteratively refine designs through usability testing and product reviews.
Identifies product design and/or development issues and risks early driving solutions and mitigation. Demonstrated skill in conducting evaluations such
as usability testing, focus groups, field trials, etc. Strong
communication and collaboration skills are a must.
