User Interface Designer
Responsibilities
CLOSING DATE: April 30, 2004
This individual will use standard software tools to develop prototypes for the purpose of usability evaluation. Duties will include working with human factors engineer to understand user profile, process flows, and system design; layout and prototyping effective user interfaces; constructing rapid prototypes, mockups, and interaction requirements specifications; documenting the user interface design; assisting in creating usability studies and making recommendations based on findings; and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor' degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Industrial design or related field;.
Minimum 4 years user interface design experience for desktop and web application software; Knowledge of user-centered design processes, methodology, web standards and the UI issues in internet-related applications;
Extensive experience with user interface and content prototyping using Visual Basic, XML, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Flash, and Photoshop;
Knowledge and experience designing products with globalization, localization, and accessibility requirements; Excellent overall communications, teamwork, and writing skills; Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Preferences
Experience working on browser-based applications; Experience in information visualization.
Experience applying 508 accessibility standards to system design; Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience may be considered in place of the above requirements.
