Information Systems/Computer Science
The University of Wisconsin - River Falls is a member of the University of Wisconsin System and is located in scenic west central Wisconsin, 30 miles east of the Twin Cities metropolitan area with easily accessible year around arts, cultural and recreational events. UW-RFs 5600 graduate and undergraduate students pursue degrees in the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, and College of Education and Professional Studies, as well as the College of Business and Economics. The University provides an excellent environment for learning, emphasizing the importance of faculty-student interaction in classrooms, laboratories, academic advising and co-curricular activities. A favorable student-faculty ratio affords opportunity for meaningful interchange between faculty and students. Strong interests in teaching, research and community service are highly valued.
The College of Business and Economics, a newly founded College, has three departments: Business Administration, Economics and Computer Science/Information Systems. The departments serve over 1200 undergraduate student majors. Approximately 100 graduate students are enrolled in the new Masters in Management degree program, which was added to the offerings during the 2001-2002 academic year. The College is completing its fourth year of candidacy for AACSB accreditation.
The Position:
The CSIS department at UWRF invites applications for a Visiting Professor beginning Fall 2004. Applicants in all areas of computer science and information systems are encouraged to apply. The preferred applicant should have a broad background in computer science or information systems, and be capable of teaching the programs core and upper level courses. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in areas of System Analysis, Data Warehousing, Data Mining, Programming Languages, Databases, and E-Commerce.
The department is committed to growth and expansion into new areas of CS and IS. Teaching effectiveness is highly regarded at UWRF, and will be assessed using peer evaluations, student evaluations, and the faculty members teaching portfolio. Other responsibilities include student advising, research and scholarly activities, serving on university and department committees. Additional professional service contributions at the departmental, college, university, community, state and national levels are also valued.
Qualifications (Required):
Ph.D. in information systems, computer science or closely related field; demonstrated effective undergraduate teaching experience; demonstrated research and scholarly activities; awareness of sensitivity to diverse student populations; ability to contribute to the Universitys commitment to enhancing student awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.
