Position Title: Human Interface Designer
Location: Los Angeles, CA or Phoenix, AZ
Duration: Full-time Contractor
Responsibilities:
* Development of use cases, functional specifications, visual
design mockups, wireframes, and graphical user interfaces for
web-based product.
* Prepare/revise/review use cases and functional requirements as
part of product design team.
* Establish user interface guidelines within context of a style
guide.
* Organize and facilitate JAD sessions with internal and external
customers.
* Participate in design reviews with Product Management, Product
Design, and software engineering groups.
* Work closely with senior systems analysts and Product Designers
on functional and design requirements.
* Analyze requirements and translate business rules into effective
product designs.
* Work within constraints of technical environment.
* Make recommendations to Product Manager regarding best
practices, industry conventions, and usability guidelines.
* Provide timely and accurate status reports.
* Review time-charges and expense reports to ensure project staff
are reporting their time against the appropriate charge numbers.
* Prepare / provide other analyses as needed.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
* Some travel required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Factors, Interactive Design, New Media or related field; five to seven years of experience in user interface, visual interactive design, translating user requirements into product feature design, and establishing/enforcing product branding of web-based applications; skills in creating/managing use cases based and functional requirements, experience leading JAD sessions with internal and external customers; prior experience in educational products is strongly preferred; proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, MS Word, Visio, and PowerPoint; high-energy and attention to detail; ability to be a self-starter; excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to work as a team member, as well as independently; ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment; ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously; ability to effectively interact with on-site and remote software engineering teams.
