Overview:
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To design, develop and test user interface (UI) applications in accordance with design procedures and to be able to contribute to design reviews. The role requires a software engineer who has a good understanding of an embedded environment. To perform other tasks in support of the team leader/project manager. To liase with management, team members and sub-contract staff, and also contacts within other development teams both within the UK and outside. The ideal candidate is someone who is fairly junior with a maximum of 3 years experience, so we are ideallylooking for a grad with a years industry experience and 2 years proven experience at University. KEY
RESPONSIBILITES:
* Design, develop, test and maintain key and highly visible user interface applications for series 40 products. * Be able to organise and hold design reviews of their own work. * Report progress accurately and provide estimation of task time scales as necessary to support project management. Attend and participate in regular team meetings. * Communication and cooperation with team members to identify and implement development improvement activities. * Adhoc activities as requested by team leader. EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS: * Degree level educated in Engineering, Science or Mathematics. EXPERIENCE/SKILLS 1/2 years software development experience. * 1/2 years experience of programming in C. * 3 years real time embedded user interface development experience, gained within the consumer electronics industry. Mobile phones experience an advantage. * Some experience of using in-circuit emulators (ICE) to identify and resolve low level software problems e.g. Lauterbach. * Experience of Configuration Management on a large software project. * Evidence of having seen projects through the complete software lifecycle. * Able to work in PC/UNIX host development environments. DESIRABLE: * Good knowledge of object oriented analysis and design concepts and methods. * A working knowledge of GSM or UMTS mobile communications. * Background in hardware/software development, debug and integration. * Ability to work within strict quality procedures. * Experience working within change procedures and raising problem reports. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: * Able to work in a mixed discipline team and is a proven team player. * Good communication skills. * Able to manage own tasks. * Proven problem solving skills. .
