HCI Researcher / User Interface Designer

The User Interface Design Center (UIDC) at Siemens Corporate Research (SCR) is seeking candidates for a User Interface Designer / HCI researcher with a solid background as a lead user-centered designer, information architect, industrial designer in a research and/or consulting role.

Primary Responsibilities

· Lead and conduct research in the areas of Human Computer Interaction, user-centered design, and related fields.
· Proactively participate in the project acquisition process for projects with Siemens operating companies, and for research projects with the government and universities.
· Develop conceptual models, detailed UI specifications, and interface designs.
· Define and conduct usability tests, heuristic reviews, surveys, site visits, interviews, and focus groups.
· Consult with customers, help guide the direction of projects by determining appropriate methodologies, and manage projects.
· Collaborate on user-centered design projects with our centers in Germany and China.

Requirements

· PhD(preferable)/MS in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, Information Science, or a related field.
· At least 5 years of experience in a research or consulting environment.
· Solid training in HCI-related research methods, qualitative and/or quantitative · Experience of applying / acquiring research grants preferred · High degree of confidence in defining user and business requirements, use case scenarios, information architecture site flows, wireframe specifications, and interface designs for various products.
· Ability to create and deliver highly effective presentations.
· Strong customer interaction, team-leading, and project management skills..
· Fluency in English, additional languages helpful.
· Able to travel.
