Title: Sr. Usability Specialist
Location: McLean, VA
Report to: Dir. Of User Experience
Responsibilities
· Plan and execute user research and feedback collection, including
field studies, persona development, surveys, structured observation, and
focus groups
· Design and conduct usability studies, including laboratory
testing, remote testing, and heuristic evaluations
· Analyze all collected user data and present findings to project
teams as part of a continuous feedback-driven improvement process
· Provide information architecture support to project teams as
needed
Required Qualifications
· MA in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Experimental
Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Information Design, or related field.
· 3-5 year experience in planning and executing usability studies,
including in-house or remote laboratory usability testing
· Knowledge of current human-computer interaction and usability
research, theories, best practices and methodologies
· Expertise in research methodology and training in advanced
statistics
· Expertise in the principals of user-centered design
· Experience with interaction design and information architecture in
a Web environment
· Experience with conducting field research, such as structured
observation and focus groups
· Experience with designing user surveys
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional, product
development environment.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience creating online surveys
· Experience with Macromedia Flash, Visio, Adobe Photoshop and other
prototyping tools
· Experience in K-12 classroom teaching
· Background in the usage of technology in the classroom (Grades
K-12)
· Experience with SPSS PC and advanced Excel functionality.
