The qualified candidate will provide specialized usability engineering expertise in the development of company products for the Materials and ChemInformatics markets. These products are used by scientific researchers and are highly graphical, making substantial use of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional visualization techniques to represent scientific information. The qualified candidate will be responsible for the planning and execution of task analysis, be familiar with interactive design techniques, and conduct usability evaluations for target products. The Usability Engineer will interact with product managers, software engineers, the marketing and communication group, project managers, documentation staff, and software users. In addition to relevant industry experience and demonstrated technical skills, the position requires enthusiasm, creativity, and the ability to drive the development of high-quality user interfaces as part of an outstanding team. The Comapny is an international company with three development sites worldwide and users from many countries therefore communication skills are of particular importance in this position. A Masters degree in Psychology, HCI, Human Factors, or Industrial Engineering is required for this position. The ideal candidate will possess at least 3 years of industry experience in usability analysis and design. Excellent command of user experience methods and their application across all phases of the research and development process is a must have requirement. Experience in the development of software products for scientific or engineering applications would be ideal. Excellent problem framing skills as well as excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
