Usability Test Analyst / Consultant

PBD is looking to establish a long term relationship with an independent consultant who is interested in doing project work in the California (esp.
Bay Area & LA). Initially this work will focus on Usability Testing of both web based and desktop software applications. Future work in user research, IA, and UI design is planned for the California region.
This position is directed towards individuals who are interested and able to work independently, and desire a flexible work load/schedule

You will be primarily responsible for the following:
· Performing independent design evaluations · Working directly with clients to determine test scopes & focus · Designing recruitment scripts used to locate specific user types · Coordinating recruitment with a professional recruiting firm · Creating test scenarios & tasks · Facilitating usability test sessions · Operating portable lab equipment to record test sessions (Using Morae) · Analyzing & documenting test results & usability issues · Providing design recommendations to resolve usability issues · Creating & presenting usability test reports · Editing & creating usability highlights videos (using Morae)
We are looking for:
· Minimum 2-3 years experience in usability testing · Excellent facilitation and interpersonal skills · Experience in user research, designing and implementing successful, intuitive user interfaces is a major asset · Knowledge of user interface conventions and best practices · Evidence of continuing education in usability, user-centered design · Experience in e-commerce usability preferred · Demonstrated organization, communication, and presentation skills.
· Bachelor's degree (or higher), with major in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Psychology, or equivalent.
