Overview:
SAP's User Productivity group is a worldwide central team of user interface design and usability professionals. The group researches UI issues, sets standards, designs and helps to implement UI building blocks and applications, and consults internal groups such as other User Interface Designers, Product Managers, and Development
Additionally, this individual may be involved organizing American usability test activities.
We have a person on our group who previously organized this event and who can coach the Program Manager. There is also coaching by the German SAP employee who organized this in the last few years.

For our location in Palo Alto, CA, we are looking for a person with broad user experience and UI technology experience to work in various capacities for new product development at SAP. One focus for this position would be in researching innovative UI design opportunities for SAP. Since the majority of SAP developers is located at our headquarter in Germany, we want to leverage more off our location in Silicon Valley and the United States to discover innovative ways to reduce SAP product learning and execution time as well as enhance the overall user satisfaction and experience. We will determine areas for improvement, research the market, cooperate with partners in industry and academia, build prototypes, and ensure that all information is integrated into the SAP innovation and development cycles. This will require knowing and using methods for determining innovation potentials and market and user research (such as contextual inquiry and focus groups), as well as partner project management. Applicants should have a good overview of the American "UI scene". Another focus for this position would be to do hands-on work in UI design as well as UI testing for various products within one solution family, together with other colleagues. This will not go to the level of detailed UI design work on high-fidelity prototypes, but at least paper prototypes or wireframes are to be created. UI testing will be done hands-on and we expect knowledge of the usual methods.
