Job Title: User Research; Macintosh Business Unit

Be a key contributor to the next version of the world's most popular productivity tools for the Macintosh platform! The Home and Retail Division is looking for an experienced user researcher who will work collaboratively with Planning, Marketing, Program Management and other disciplines. You will be responsible for collecting user data, in the field and the lab, and applying it to a customer-centered design process for Mac Office, Virtual PC and other Mac-based products. We are looking for someone committed to providing the best UI possible for the customer.
Responsibilities:
* Design and carry out multi-year research plans to address both
formative and evaluative design questions.
* Be creative in adjusting to changes and being effective with
limited time and resources.
* Apply internal and external research literature to current
design problems.
* Contribute to the creation and ongoing use of personas,
archetypes and end-to-end scenarios across the product cycle.
* Work with the development team to formulate and prioritize
design solutions.
* Hire and manage the work of contingent staff and independent
contractors.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will hold an advanced degree in one of the following fields: Psychology, Human Computer Interaction or Human Factors, or other related discipline. They must have a solid foundation in research design using both quantitative and qualitative methods and must be able to conduct a research program independently. They will have
3-5 years of experience conducting user research in a commercial context. A focus on work-place technologies and tools is desired.
Excellent communication and organization skills are needed as well as strong interpersonal skills. They must be able to argue for changes constructively. Mac OS X experience preferred but not required.
However, willingness to learn and embrace a new platform is a must.
