Microsoft HR User Experience Interaction Designer, Redmond, WA -- Position YG-113560
Are you able to create, communicate, and implement a cohesive visual design strategy across an entire product space? With your help we will evolve the user experience and overall user satisfaction of Microsoft’s Human Resources systems.
The HR User Experience Team is seeking a designer with exceptional interaction design skills who is able to lead an effort to define the user experience of tomorrow for Microsoft employees.
The HRUX team is responsible for improving the user experience of our systems and tools by providing usability, design, content management and technical writing services.
The HRUX Interaction Designer will manage the creative direction, and product design, of Microsoft’s suite of Human Resources tools.
Ongoing Responsibilities:
Define the design direction, branding, and user experience of all HR Systems solutions.
Partner with HR product management, usability, program management, and development to understand end user & business owner requirements & develop conceptual UI prototypes for both web and windows application tools.
Create paper & interactive UI prototypes, using rapid interactive prototyping based on usability results.
Write comprehensive design specification documents for development teams.
Establish and manage priority setting of design needs across HR.
Manage at least one full time designer, and contingent staff or vendor design resources.
Review of overall product suite for compliance with design guidelines
Create and maintain a guideline compliant graphic resource gallery with assets that can be leveraged across HR.
Integrate of design requirements into ongoing yearly product planning.
Position Requirements:
A design portfolio that demonstrating a variety of user centered web and windows application design solutions.
Outstanding skills in interaction design, visual design for software or web services
Ability to suggest and develop multiple design solutions to major, complex design problems.
Expertise in rapid interactive prototyping low and high fidelity prototype designs
Extensive experience with all primary graphics software and design tools including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Flash, HTML, XML, and CSS. Experience with VB scripting a plus
The ability to champion and evangelize design into product development processes
A demonstrated ability to work confidently with Program Management, Development, Product Managers, Content Managers, Test, and Usability.
Experience designing with usability engineers and integrating user research throughout the design process
Strong communication skills to effectively present, explain, negotiate and monitor design solutions
Experience designing products with globalization, and accessibility requirements.
Experience designing employee self service, manager self service or HR application software a plus.
Industry and education qualifications include:
5-8 years of industry experience with software product development required
2-4 years of solid design management experience
A bachelor’s degree in product design, interaction design, information design or a related subject is required, and a graduate level degree is preferred.
