Responsibilities
VMware Inc., a pioneer in virtualization software for industry-standard computers is seeking a senior software engineer with a proven track record in designing and developing client programs and engaging user interfaces for enterprise software. The candidate will provide technical leadership to a team of developers involved in the design and development of client interfaces to the VMware's award winning Workstation, GSX Server and VirtualCenter product lines.
As a senior member of the UI development team, which is responsible for generating a compelling user interface on the Windows platform for using and managing virtual machines, you will do all of the following:
Design, develop and maintain client/user interface software.
Work with Product Managers on the requirements of new UI features.
Work with the Usability Specialist on the feature's usability.
Demonstrate an ability to understand complex areas of business and define the solution architecture.
Understand, analyze, and resolve complex technical and functional problems and scenarios.
Take technical ownership for key components
Work with QA engineers and ensure software quality and stability
Work with the documentation team and ensure good quality documentation of the user guide.
Interact with other product teams, customer support organization and the release team.
Requirements
7+ years experiences of software product development.
Technically Skilled (C/C++, Windows system-level programming, Microsoft Visual Studio). Additionally, Linux UI (libgtk) and systems level programming is desirable.
Good understanding of concepts and programming in a client/server, distributed computing environment.
Experience with object-oriented programming, and user interface.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, attention to detail.
Able to work well both independently and as a team member.
An aptitude for understanding business applications from a functional and technical perspective.
Good interaction and visual design acumen.
Proven ability to deliver commercial quality software.
Good verbal and written communication skills and software design skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from a reputable university. MSCS desirable, or equivalent years of experience.
