At Oregon State University, Tom Dietterich and I have an exciting research project called TaskTracer that is investigating next generation personal (and work group) information management systems for current operating system environments. This is a very exciting and compelling project that has been funded by the National Science Foundation and DARPA. Research aspects of the system include Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, and Collaborative Filtering among others. The goals of the TaskTracer project include interruption recovery, personal knowledge management, workgroup knowledge management, and workflow discovery.
We are growing the project and are looking to hire two full-time research staff members. In particular, we are looking for people with strong HCI and user interface design background. Strengths in machine learning and CF would also be a benefit, but are not necessary.
We are looking for people to start immediately (August 1st or as soon as possible).
Both jobs are annual appointments, renewed if continued funding is available. However, our goal is to maintain employment indefinitely, transitioning to new research projects as they evolve. For the Post-Doctoral Research Associate, there may be a possibility for promotion to Research Professor (after at least one year of employment), if an ability to generate continued research funding is demonstrated.
