POSITION DESCRIPTION
TandemSeven is looking for a principal level consultant with a strong Human Factors background who can help lead our business in the San Francisco Bay area. The ideal candidate must be experienced in applying a user-centered methodology to all aspects of software, portal or web application design and development lifecycle. This position requires someone who is not only skilled in requirements, research and design, but also has strong experience leading engagements, estimating, writing proposals and generating new business opportunities. Though this position is focused on the San Francisco Bay area, unrestricted ability to travel is required.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• User research planning and execution: usability testing, contextual inquiry, task analysis, field studies • Requirements definition: gathering and documentation, persona development, use case creation.
• User interface design: conceptual interaction models, information architecture, wireframes, functional specifications • Able to lead engagements and work independently or with a team • Strong client-facing presentation and communication skills (both written and verbal) • Able to estimate, write proposals and statements of work • Able to handle multiple projects and proposals concurrently • Must be able to travel (non-negotiable)
DESIRED BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE
• Advanced degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or related field preferred • Minimum 7 years experience practicing software or web-based UI design, including portal frameworks, preferred • Minimum 5 years of senior consulting experience to large, Fortune 500 companies preferred • Strong business development network desired • Experience in working with designing complex, transactional applications • Familiarity with both agile and plan-driven development processes and UML desired • Experience and desire to create intellectual capital preferred (e.g., white papers, conference presentations, etc.) • Must be able to supply samples of previous research and design work • Must have a passion for creating great user experiences through user- centered design
