Google's User Interface team is looking for looking for talented individuals for the following opportunity:
USER INTERFACE DESIGNER
"Focus on the user, and all else will follow". That's one of the key philosophies behind everything that Google does, and we're looking for a UI Designer to help drive the design process for new Google products and features.
Requirements:
- Gauging the usability of new and existing products, and making constructive suggestions for change
- Solid academic background in human-computer interaction or related field (BS or MS in Computer Science or related field a big plus).
- 3 or more years of demonstrated experience in designing usable web-based interfaces.
- Expert HTML skills
- Excellent knowledge of JavaScript for rapid prototyping purposes.
- Strong visual design sense.
- Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills
USABILITY ANALYST
Help us find out about our users! Google is looking for a Usability Analyst to work on all aspects of user testing at Google.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in conducting user studies with various scopes and formats
- Excellent analytical skills, especially with regard to assessing factors in user behavior
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Solid background in statistics and data analysis
- BS or MS in Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Information Science, or related field
- Knowledge of or experience with one or more of the following is a big plus:
- Web design principles or first-hand experience designing web pages, HTML, Javascript, and/or programming concepts,
- Log analysis or survey data analysis
- Shell scripting, Perl or Python
- Digital video recording or editing software
VISUAL DESIGNER
Google is looking for a visual web designer with a strong sense of graphic design, layout, color, and style, who also has a deep appreciation for simple, sleek, usable interfaces. You will be responsible for all stages of design on one or more of Google's consumer-facing products.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3+ years experience designing outstanding web-based products for a consumer-oriented website
- Expert HTML knowledge. Solid CSS and Javascript skills preferred. Comfortable with Adobe Photoshop
- Knowledge of HCI principles and web design best practices.
- BA/BS or above in design-related field; strong technical background a plus
