Three-year EPSRC PhD studentship in human/systems interface design and evaluation

The sucess of candidates in achieving other competitive funding awards has made available at the last minute a three-year EPSRC-funded studentship (fees plus full stipend) from October 1st 2004 to HomeEU applicants possessing at least a 2i in Psychology, Computing or a related discipline and wishing to conduct research at the interface between Psychology and Computing. The successful applicant will be co-supervised by staff from Psychology and Computing departments, so prospective applicants are advised to contact potential supervisors before submitting an application to ensure that the proposed research area is appropriate for co-supervision. Example topics include:

Human-computer interaction
Applications of technology to decision-making, problem-solving and creativity Ubiquitous computing Systems design and task analysis Psychology of programming (e.g., human factors in aspect-orientated software development) Computational and cognitive modelling Socio-technical systems design Supporting expertise through IT systems

The studentship will start on or around 4th October 2004, and the deadline for applications is 17th September 2004.
