Research Fellow (Fixed Term), Department of Informatics User-Centred Ubiquitous Computing in Domestic Environments
Salary: £19,460 to £29,128 pa,
Fixed term for 12 months - commencing October 2004.
starting salary will be no higher than £25,699 pa.
The Department of Informatics wishes to invite applications for the full-time post of Research Fellow. The person appointed will join a team of researchers in the Interact Lab and will work as part of the Equator project. Duties will include the coordination and conduct of research with users around the deployment and evaluation of ubiquitous technologies in the home. This will also include collaboration with developers across Equator in the design and building of technology toolkits that fit in with our everyday homes and lives.
The successful applicant will work closely with the project manager Dr Geraldine Fitzpatrick and with investigators and researchers at Equator collaborators' sites; Sussex is one of eight universities involved in the Equator Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration (IRC) funded by the EPSRC. We expect to appoint someone with a higher degree, preferably a doctorate, in HCI/UCD/CSCW/Ubiquitous Computing/Tangible Computing/End User programming or related area. The role requires experience in interdisciplinary work, an ability to engage with both social and technical concerns, and special expertise in conducting user-centred research and design.
