UI Designer

Three month temp to Perm

Salary based on experience

The UI Design team is responsible for Developing high level, and/or detailed storyboards, mockups and prototypes to effectively communicate designs and validate usability studies. Additionally, the UI Design team is tasked with creating the general look and feel and graphic designs (splash screens, icons, logos, etc.) that work well across various platforms. The UI Design team also creates, maintains and enforces the UI Style Guide. The UI Design team accomplishes its objectives through various usability methodologies such as Contextual Analysis, User testing and adherence to industry guidelines.

Key Skills-

Expert knowledge of Flash 5 and Flash MX

Advanced Actionscript coding skills with solid understanding of object-oriented programming, client / server Actionscript coding with experience integrating Flash client with back-end technologies, remotting and components (Flash MX).

Strong knowledge of XML.

Strong background in HCI and Usability methodology.

Position Responsibilities-

Effectively document UI design in UI Design document.

Communicate and clarify, through various forums UI designs standards and methodology.

Conceive, define, and implement user interface guidelines and standards.

Observe, document and analyze user tasks, environments and characteristics as part of the contextual analysis process.

Develop high level and/or detailed storyboards, mockups and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.

Drive interaction designs from conceptualization through development to ensure successful implementation of design.

Translate abstract concepts and ideas - from information obtained from customer research and other usability methodologies- into low fidelity prototypes (e.g., Photoshop simulations) and progressively develop them into high-fidelity Macromedia Flash (and similar) prototypes.

Help drive the user-centered design process.

Ensure optimum usability by incorporating usability findings into designs.

Integrate effectively into a multidisciplinary group that includes human factors specialists, interaction designers, industrial designers, and deliver to strict deadlines in a fast paced environment.

Assist in iterative usability testing of prototypes throughout the development cycle.

Must be able to analyze qualitative and quantitative information and synthesize analysis into highly usable interfaces.

Use industry-standard best practices to analyze requirements and design user interfaces, which most effectively implement those requirements.

Keep abreast of industry trends in human/computer interactions so that where appropriate, new UI technology can be introduced into applications.
