ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
In this position, you will lead Information Architecture across Sun's Web sites and portals. You will coordinate the work of outside and IA agencies, and work with Sun designers, usability professionals, content owners, and product groups across the company to translate business and customer requirements into an intuitive, integrated online experience. The person in this position will:
* Coordinate and drive a wide array of IA efforts working with external agencies
* Establish and extend comprehensive IA standards, philosophies, and practices for implementation across Sun sites
* Consult with product and content groups to design IA for for a range of site sections, portals and applications
* Create communication and evangelism programs
* Generate scenarios (& use cases), flows, and storyboards showing products and services in use on sites and portals

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Proven experience using customer-centered design and IA to organize and structure information for large commercial web properties
* Experience defining, managing, and launching Web site designs in a commercial environment. Solid foundation in Web site design, information organziation, storyboarding, site mapping, and other user-centered design methods.
* Demonstrated leadership and collaboration with small teams of designers, business owners, and engineers. Must work comfortably in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
* Expert knowledge of web design processes, including discovery, site flows, site structure, modelling, creation of low-fidelity prototypes
* Experience in designing, prototyping, spec'ing and testing of site presentation behavior and functionality.Requires 4-5 years relevant web experience, with a total of 10-12 years related industry or information design experience
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Familiarity with evolving XML-related standards for metadata, topic maps, and content/schema modeling techniques
* Experience designing, managing, or running usability tests
* User interviewing skills

10-12
MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION:
BA or equivalent experience
