Adobe is seeking a creative, self-motivated, and enthusiastic Design Manager to join its User Interface Design Team. This person will be managing a team of UI and visual designers focused on developing innovative, future-looking designs for Creative Suite applications. The manager will think strategically as well as tactically. The work will include creating solutions to overcome current customer pain points as well as shaping and driving designs on the next generation of user interfaces.
The manager will be involved in evangelizing these efforts among designers and across the company with the aim of creating a dramatically improved Adobe user experience. This manager will be responsible for working effectively with the individual product teams and with the UI Team's cross-functional disciplines, which includes User Interaction Designers, User Researchers, Visual Designers, and Technical Writers.
Knowledge: A degree in Human Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Psychology, Engineering, or equivalent experience is required. Should have 7-10 years of relevant work experience -- with at least 2 years designing desktop applications and 3 years managing design teams. Experience with one or more of Adobe's Creative Professional products - print, web publishing, page layout, illustration, and/or digital video applications - is mandatory.

(leadership and management perspectives).
o Is accomplished as a senior-level designer. Can lead by example in
the area of design expertise and vision as well as company values.
o Is experienced in all aspects of planning, scheduling, budgeting,
and executing projects.
o Can effectively, recruit, hire, motivate, and mentor staff. Can
identify the strengths of individuals and assign projects accordingly.
o Can proactively identify problems, collaboratively define solutions,
and resolve conflicts between team members and cross-functional groups.
o Can develop a vision for the future as well as strategies for
achieving that vision.
o Can effectively communicate direction to staff and build consensus.
o Can promote the value of user-centered design to other departments.
