Human Factors Analyst, Electornic Ink

Title: Human Factors Analyst
Department: Human Factors
Reports to: Director of Human Factors


Overall Responsibility:
The Human Factors Analyst is responsible for understanding client and end user needs and formulating and executing a usability approach to meet those needs. Includes gathering user requirements, applying this information to the design process and validating the usability of the resulting user interface. It is critical that the analyst is able to quickly and effectively communicate actionable recommendations (both verbal and written) to design teams. The Analyst will represent Electronic Ink in a professional manner and understand the goals of the client and the project.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

-Ggather user requirements through contextual interviews and observation.
-Identify and profile end users and their requirements.
-Conduct competitive and heuristic usability analysis of software applications and Web sites.
-Conduct usability walk-throughs and testing.
-Analyze resulting data and provide presentations and written reports of findings in.

Skills:
Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with data presentation tools (Visio, PowerPoint) and analysis tools such as SPSS. Aptitude for teamwork, flexibility and passion for usability.
Information Architecture skills are a plus.

Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years Human Factors/Usability experience. Experience in gathering user requirements, using data to inform interface design (preferably for software products), and conducting one or more usability analyses. Project work in financial services, healthcare or related fields, with Web-enabled or desktop applications.


Educational Requirements:
The Analyst will possess a degree, preferably at the graduate level, in Human Factors Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Experimental or Cognitive Psychology or another HCI-related field.
