Job Opening: Information Architect, SBC Online, Austin, TX
Synopsis of Position: Starting with business requirements and user needs analysis, this Information Architect position conceives, creates, and refines use cases, site maps, flows, wireframes, and prototypes for web based and client-based products. The qualified candidate will be adept at balancing business goals, user needs, and technological affordances and constraints. She/he will have experience with user-centered design techniques and the industry standard design/development tools listed below. She/he will design user interfaces in a fast-paced development environment creating interfaces for web and client software products. Experience creating site maps, wireframes, flows, and prototypes is required. Strong conceptual design skills as well as coding experience are necessary. This individual will need to be proactive and have demonstrated the ability to generate ideas and initiate action while achieving results. Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Required Degrees/Majors/Accreditations/Skills: BA degree in a related field and seven or more years experience with the conception, definition, design, and prototyping or development of interactive systems. Expertise with design and prototyping tools such as Visio, Illustrator, Flash, and Dreamweaver. Understanding of affordances and constraints of various Web technologies: HTML, JavaScript, Flash, middleware, and CSS.
Desired Degrees/Majors/Accreditations/Skills: MA or PhD in a related field (interaction design, architecture, HCI, industrial design, information science, social sciences, etc.) is desired. Experience with all levels and phases of design, from ideation and conception to specifying nuts-and-bolts details. IA experience, preferably within the high-tech, computer software or Internet industry segments.
