TECHNOLOGY SERVICES – INFORMATION ARCHITECT
OVERVIEW
As part of the Technology Services team, the Information Architect (IA) owns the strategy and execution of interface design. Key responsibilities include collaborating with internal technology teams and vendor/customer Technical Analyst, Product Management, and Product Development teams to create and maintain web sites, web based application user interfaces, client application GUI, and associated design documents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Develop templates, standards for design, and constructive processes •Identify user interface audience, mission , goals, and vision •Design page schematics for web sites and user interface for client applications •Collaborate with internal/customer business analyst and development groups to develop the user interface, add new features and enhancements that meet business objectives •Lead user research efforts including contextual interviews and usability testing •Create internal and external deliverables including prototypes, content inventory, detailed functional specification documents, navigational structures, and media-appropriate copy •Develop interface architecture, presentation layer logic flow diagrams, ranked feature lists, wireframes, and use cases •Collaborate with technical groups to define transition points from user- facing to backend processes •Provide input for user research and usability test plans •Conduct pre-launch review of projects to ensure accurate execution and positive user experience •Work with the Product Development to help manage the transition from designs into functioning products-through development, testing, and launch
QUALIFICATIONS
•BS/BA required and/or equivalent work experience with 3+ years in human- centered interface design and interaction development for web sites, with travel industry exposure a plus •Practical-minded perfectionist with the ability to both create compelling concepts and work through complex details •Extensive experience working in collaborative environments, integrating user-centered design, technology, business logic, and managing clients •Experience conducting user research, including contextual inquiry and usability testing •An outstanding portfolio of detailed page schematics, functional specifications, interaction flows, site maps, navigation systems, and web- appropriate writing •Ability to articulate business strategy and branding issues, and to balance these with user needs and technological constraints •Demonstrated ability to manage clients, communicate persuasively, and resolve issues •Experience working in small collaborative teams •Familiarity with technical issues around web development and ability to work constructively with engineering teams •Proficiency in MS Visio or equivalent •Experience with UI prototyping tools such Flash, Director, Lazlo, or equivalent •Understanding of UML, XML, XPath, HTML, DOM, CSS, and JavaScript •Familiarity with basic data structures and other computer science concepts •Superb writing and presentation skills •Great attitude and ability to handle change •Ability to work independently, prioritize, and solve problems proactively •Creativity and attention to detail
