The Managing Director, REALTOR.org, will help set the strategic direction for the Web site and will manage its day-to-day operations. Specifically, the managing director will:
Contribute to strategic direction of site and develop site's business requirements.
Oversee a staff of five people: manager, editorial development; manager of user experience/IA; and three content editors.
Prioritize and coordinate the work of content editors, IA, visual designer and developer on REALTOR.org.
Develop and maintain positive Web publishing team dynamic and build team members' skill sets.
Establish and monitor processes and procedures (including workflows and timelines), quality standards and budgets for the site.
Lead the development of the site's metadata and search strategies and monitor the implementation of objectives to achieve metadata and search goals.
Administer the site's Plumtree content management system and functional infrastructure.
Track and interpret site usage patterns and user needs using Web Trends, user testing, heuristic reviews, etc.
Manage special projects at the site, including site redesigns and sub-site development.
Communicate with the organization about Web site initiatives and their benefits to site users and internal staff.
Guide overall marketing efforts for the site, working with in-house marketing department staff and external consultants.
Serve as site's primary interface with IT department on technical/infrastructure issues.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years experience in management of large Web sites (5,000+ pages).
Minimum of 2 years experience (can be concurrent) in project management.
Minimum 2 years experience (can be concurrent) writing and editing for the Web.
Proven solid knowledge of the principles of Web site usability, information architecture and content management.
Familiarity with best practices on the Web.
Experience implementing and using a content management system; direct experience with Plumtree portal and content management products a plus.
Experience developing and implementing metadata and search strategies within a complex content environment.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Strong time management and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with internal clients and users to understand their goals and to manage expectations.
Experience observing/conducting user research and usability testing and translating user research into site requirements.
Experience with sites that offer personalization and/or customization.
Solid understanding of Web site technical infrastructure.
Familiarity with HTML, CSS and cross-browser compatibility issues.
A BA/BS degree.
Additionally, experience with Visio, Java Script and Lotus Notes, as well as work with other membership organizations or associations, would be a plus.
