We are currently looking for a qualified Sr. UI Designer /Accessibility Expert to join our Technical Architecture Team at our headquarters in Islandia, NY. We will also entertain qualified candidates in our offices in Houston, TX or Princeton, NJ.
As an Accessibility Expert you will serve as the lead UI designer responsible for establishing standards to ensure products are compliant with government policies and industry conventions regarding software accessibility. You will perform research in the tools and technology that can be used to make software accessible to users with disabilities.
In addition, you will develop checklists and metrics to quantify compliance with accessibility standards and perform product accessibility evaluations. Qualified candidates will also develop plans to educate development teams in accessibility design and UCD principles.
Accessibility experts ensure all product designs meet usability objectives and user requirements, this includes project planning, recruitment, logistics, conducting evaluations, analyzing results, documenting issues, and proposing and prioritizing recommendations.
Qualified candidates will have 5+ years experience in UI design, with demonstrated expertise in accessibility design. Expert knowledge in third party tools, adaptive technology, W3C Web Accessibility Initiatives and UI design implications derived from legislative and governmental regulations are required. Proficiency in usability testing and methodologies is strongly preferred. Expert knowledge in Window OS, HTML, JavaScript, Java and graphic and prototyping tools is also required.
