The User Interface Design Center (UIDC) at Siemens Corporate Research is seeking interns. Recent graduates or students in HCI, Human Factors Engineering, or Cognitive Psychology are required to assist with usability testing, data analysis, and research in the HCI field. Three to six months work is available starting as soon as possible. The positions offer opportunities to gain research and practical work experience, hone skills, and network. The UIDC is a multi-disciplinary, dynamic, and friendly work environment.
Primary Responsibilities
·Assist research in the areas of Human-Computer Interaction and Affective Computing.
·Define and conduct usability tests, surveys, site visits, interviews, and focus groups.
Requirements
·MS/PhD students or recent graduates in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, Information Science, or a related field.
·Solid training in HCI-related research methods, qualitative and/or quantitative.
·Experience and interest in emotional design, affective computing, and physiological measures.
·Experience in conducting user studies and interviewing participants.
·Ability to create and deliver highly effective presentations.
·Fluency in English, additional languages helpful.
·Able to travel.
Siemens Corporate Research (www.scr.siemens.com) is Siemens’ US research center. The UIDC at Siemens Corporate Research consults with and supports Siemens business units worldwide in user interface design and usability engineering, and conducts research projects and develops methods and innovative know-how in the scope of Human-Computer Interaction.
Additionally, the UIDC works with the US Government and partners with universities for research projects. The UIDC is located on three continents (Munich, Germany; Princeton, NJ, USA; and Beijing, China). The intern positions are based at Princeton, New Jersey.
