Job Description: >This usability specialist would plan, facilitate, and report usability >test results using valid test designs and reliable methods for data >gathering and reporting. Products would range from complex peripheral management application suites to consumer-facing products such as IP telecoms. The majority of studies will be conducted on web sites and

the products and technologies > to be evaluated >* helping to define research questions and identifying the > appropriate data gathering technique to answer these questions >* Working with product teams and the user experience team > to plan, conduct, and report usability/accessibility findings >* Generating easy-to-understand reports with actionable > recommendations >* Creating design mockups to demonstrate recommended changes >* Engaging with engineering teams to negotiate the priority of > recommendations relative to user needs versus development time > constraints

Qualifications / Experience:

Qualifications: >* 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience in applied usability > testing methods working under peer review with a usability or > user-centered design team and in applying these skills to the > design and development of web-based systems. >* Demonstrated ability to produce ecologically valid test designs > that answer a key research question, while understanding the > impact on other variables in the user's environment. >* Previous experience working with a UI team producing designs > for networking products. >* Skilled at various forms of data gathering, including at least > three types of formal usability studies and surveys. >* Graduate degree in Cognitive Psychology, Industrial > Design, or related HCI field.
