Position Description:
The visual designer will work closely with Marketing, Engineering, Program Managers, creative manager, and UE team. This person will apply visual design skills to create illustrations or mockups that depict concepts, structures, and relationships to help communicate the overall design within the UE team, and external to the team. Applications range from complex network management suites to consumer-level products to end-user facing websites and tools. Responsibilities include: * developing high-level design goals, directions, principles, and guidelines based on market, business, and user requirements, accommodating relevant industry trends, standards, and technologies. * identifying specific design methods and tools based on an understanding of strengths and weaknesses relative to the targeted task domain, implementation environment, and design goals, and be able to utilize these methods and tools effectively in satisfying requirements and creating an overall satisfying physical experience. conducting heuristic reviews and usability studies on existing tools and products * specify, iterating, and refining a design to achieve business and user goals in terms of physical design elements and presentation style at various levels of detail appropriate to the phases of a project. This includes rough images and sketches depicting user objects, information structures, object properties, relationships, and arrangements that support users' tasks. Most projects require a clear understanding of design constraints on the web, as well as cross-platform and cross-browser design issues. Your efforts will result in improved product usability, usefulness, and desirability in collaboration with the UE team, Project Managers, and Development Engineers.
Qualifications / Experience:
Qualifications: * At least 5 years of relevant work experience in visual design working under peer review with a usability or user-centered design team. * Superior communication and collaboration skills. Must be able to build solid relationships with developers and marketing to deliver agreed results. * Previous experience working with a UI team producing designs for networking or telephony products. * Graduate degree in Cognitive Psychology, Visual Design, Industrial Design, or related HCI field
