Job Title: Interface Developer & QA
Business Unit: The Economist Group
Based: New York
Duration: 6 month contract position
Job Description:
- Skilled HTML coder
- Skilled hand-coder, who can write code as needed on the fly as well as assist the editorial producer with coding charts and magazine sidebars.
- Able to anticipate and avoid browser compatibility issues.
- Able to develop and modify style sheets (CSS)
- Able to work with web developers on a system that uses templates to display dynamic content.
Good design skills
- Ability to use story boards to develop PhotoShop mock-ups, and layout pages that are clean and easy to read.
- Maintain the design integrity of the site to ensure a consistent brand look and feel
- Able to work with business users to identify best design options.
- Sensitive to byte counts and page load times.
Good QA/debugging skills
- Ensure quality of product by identifying visual and functional problems.
- Run test scripts and record bugs.
- Assist business users by providing templates and coaching when they break.
- Attention to detail.
Good planning & time management
- Provide accurate estimates and meet targets agreed to.
