The User Experience team partners across the firm to create programs and tools that drive employee Web adoption and enhance the employee intranet experience by applying usability and accessibility standards. Our mission is to ensure that the end user is represented in the development of intranet and extranet sites and applications, and to advocate a consistent and positive user experience.
As a valuable member of this team, your primary role as a User-Centered Designer will be to perform user-centered design activities, such as user research (field studies, interviews, focus groups, card sorting), user and task analysis (user profiles, personas, task analysis, scenarios), design (interaction design, information architecture, interface design), heuristic evaluation, and usability testing. This position offers the unique opportunity to learn about and partner with various line of business and product managers from across the firm, and to develop and deliver user friendly, intuitive, and efficient intranet sites and applications. The following tasks would be within the scope of your responsibilities:
- Meet with Intranet Web Project Teams - Advise project groups across the firm on appropriate user-centered design methods to include in their project plans.
- Work closely with the project manager and client to understand goals and target audiences.
- Identify user needs through techniques such as user/task analysis, surveys, contextual inquiry methods, and fields studies
- Translate the findings and user data into user profiles, use cases and create user-centered, standards-based designs.
- Develop navigational hierarchies and effectively visualize key concepts of site structure and user pathways.
- Design and build prototypes (low fidelity to high fidelity) to use in usability testing.
- Design and administer usability studies on a wide range of web applications and content sites.
- Develop testing processes and approaches according to JPMorgan Chase, and Six Sigma/CMM standards. Work with project team to create protoypes and to
- determine the acceptable range for test results and performance.
- Assist in all phases of usability test preparation, including recruiting, scheduling, and test script development. This includes, but is not limited to, one on one interviews, remote user testing, focus groups and card sorting sessions.
- Analyze results and prepare reports detailing the outcome of usability studies with quick turn-around time. Produce a detailed summary report and present to the project team. Analysis would also include feedback on appropriate marketing messages and product support and training issues.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with members of management and production staff throughout all phases of implementation.
- Work with internal business units, including senior management, project managers, designers, information architects, editors, as well as outside vendors
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree, preferably in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology or other related discipline required
- Minimum of two years of related experience working with web applications and/or sites.
- User-centered design, Scenario based testing or usability analysis experience required.
- Understanding of the JPMorgan Chase intranet a plus.
- Experience creating and implementing design prototypes using HTML a plus.
- Experience with low and high-fidelity prototyping using tools such as Visio, Visual Basic, or DreamWeaver.
- Knowledge of the software development process.
- Experience using Camtasia Screen Recorder a plus.
