Visual Design Lead - Adobe's Common UI The Common UI Team is responsible for providing design solutions for any functionality or visual style that applies across Adobe's four customer segments (Consumer/Hobbyist, Digital Video/Audio, Creative Pro, Enterprise). We are seeking a Visual Design Lead for the Common UI. This person will collaborate closely with the Visual Design Leads, who own the visual style and strategy for their respective segments, as well as the broader UI Team and the product teams.
The responsibilities of the Visual Design Lead for the Common UI include proactively identifying opportunities for visual consistency and increasing our brand presence, followed by creating solutions. Examples include application and document icons, splash screens, welcome screens, installers, OS implications for our products, a general strategy for iconography in the applications, etc. The Visual Design Lead will also be responsible for hosting design critique sessions with all of our visual design staff to offer mentoring and creative inspiration. Responsibilities will also include working closely with our peers in Packaging & Collateral, Branding, Legal, and Type Development toward common goals for the user experience. The Visual Design Lead will collaborate with the product teams to find ways to streamline our design and delivery process, as well as our user research staff to determine the level of usability of our visual solutions (legibility, discoverability, etc.).
The Visual Design Lead will also have the opportunity to reach out to the broader design community by attending and presenting at design conferences, meeting with customers, and meeting with peers at Microsoft and Apple.
Knowledge & Skills:
A passionate and gifted visual design leader who has demonstrated exceptional creativity, teamwork and follow-through. This person must care deeply about the value of visual design and getting the experience right for our customers. This person must have excellent communication skills (including presenting in front of large audiences) and the ability to lead initiatives across diverse teams. Requires a degree in Graphic Design or work equivalent, and a minimum of 8 years experience designing visuals for software. Thorough knowledge of both the Macintosh and Windows operating systems is required. The ideal candidate will have led large-scale redesign efforts, which required collaborating with diverse teams to achieve their goals. Familiarity with interactive prototyping tools is a plus.
