Experience design contract opportunity
Sliced Bread Design is looking for a talented, responsible, detail-oriented individual to help us design the user experience for an exciting, challenging online service that is well-known in the Bay Area and widely used by both consumers and a core target audience.
You will be working closely with a Sliced Bread Design principal on the project, following our user-centered design process from start to finish.
Your time on the project is initially slated for approximately three months at 20-30 hours/week and has follow-on phases. Because of a significant amount of client interaction, the project requires that you be located in the Bay Area and available for meetings in Mountain View, San Jose, and Campbell. Responsibilities include:
- understanding complex scenarios and functionality requirements
- conducting user requirements and workflow analysis
- interviewing users to understand their needs and goals
- reviewing applications for adherence to standards and generally accepted principles of good design
- designing overall information architecture
- creating flow diagrams and site maps
- creating HTML prototypes using Dreamweaver
- creating rough screen designs using Fireworks or Photoshop
- rapidly user testing and iterating designs
- writing design specifications
This positions requires:
- degree in HCI related field, or equivalent experience
- minimum of 2-3 years experience
- ability to work from home, but attend meetings in Mountain View, San Jose, and Campbell
- flexible schedule
- proficiency with Dreamweaver, Photoshop or Fireworks, and Illustrator
- basic understanding of technologies that influence UI design including .net, JSP, ASP, and XML
- experience with complex web-based applications a plus
- excellent interpersonal, time management, and communication skills
- reliability
