Faculty Position-Information Services

The Information School of the University of Washington is seeking an outstanding individual to fill a tenure-track position in information services in public and private sector organizations. Information services in this context encompasses interpersonal client services provided through a variety of delivery modes, such as, customer relationship management, business intelligence, library reference, automated question-answering, help-desk systems, business research services, filtering and profiling, and strategic dissemination of information within organizations (alerting services).

The duties of the position require cutting-edge research and teaching excellence spanning strategic planning of information services, including one or more of the following areas:
* design, development and evaluation of information services
* management of information services and resources,
* information provision in diverse environments
* competitive (business) intelligence and environmental scanning,
* market research, strategic planning and analysis, benchmarking
and best practices.

The Information School has developed an active research agenda in this area and seeks individuals who can bring additional breadth of expertise to our program. The definition of information services is continuing to evolve in expanding, technologically sophisticated information environments. We desire individuals who are excited about engaging in broad-based, interdisciplinary approaches to studying the delivery of personalized services to increasingly diverse virtual and non-virtual user communities in a variety of social and organizational contexts.

Appointments are anticipated for the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor commensurate to qualifications and experience.

Our new colleague will join a broad-based, inclusive Information School with academic programs on the bachelors, masters and doctoral levels.
Faculty will teach across all programs. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree by date of appointment.
