Interaction Design position at Whirlpool
The opportunity:
Whirlpool Corporation is seeking a highly motivated Interaction Designer to work on contract through Aerotek in it’s Global Consumer Design – User Experience Group (UXG) in Benton Harbor, MI.

Brief overview:
As an interaction designer at Whirlpool, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support marketing and brand strategies through the design and creation of useful, usable, and desirable consumer solutions. Your technical responsibilities will include:
Designing and conducting all forms of user studies (research, benchmarks, evaluations, etc.);
Analyzing and translating study results into user needs and requirements;
Exploring and prototyping concepts, use-case scenarios, and interaction paradigms;
Developing information architectures, work-flow and navigation models;
Authoring detailed design specifications documents for our wide range of products.
You will champion and apply user-centered design methodologies beginning with strategic planning, through to design, and evaluation.
You will contribute to the scoping, planning, design, and execution of various projects as a team member and/or leader. It will be necessary to manage numerous assignments at one time, requiring rapid turnaround. You may work directly with other members of Whirlpool’s Global Consumer Design team, but you must also be self-motivated and comfortable working under minimal guidance.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in interface, information, interaction, human centered design, HCI, Human Factors, or other human sciences required
• A minimum of 5 years relevant design and/or usability experience
• In depth knowledge of user-centered design process, and a demonstrated ability to collaborate with usability, marketing, engineering, and other creative team members
• Experience in client management and business development
• Great communication skills; the ability to present design concepts and recommendations clearly and understandably to a diverse audience within the organization
• Good knowledge in Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, and other design and multimedia applications
• Good knowledge in Visio and other flow charting applications
• Able and willing to travel both domestically and internationally on occasion
