Source: CHI-Jobs

[for ACM CSCW attendees: see special note near the end]

NECTAR: Network for Effective Collaboration Technologies through Advanced Research. Nectar is a network of Canada’s leading researchers in HCI and CSCW (see list below for Members of NECTAR). The NSERC Research Networks Grants Program, together with sponsors including Microsoft Research and SMART Technologies, has given us CDN$5.5 million in research funds for the period 2004 – 2008.

NECTAR’s vision is to investigate technological and social issues to make computer-supported collaboration more efficient, more productive, and more natural. The work is centered around three abstract organizational
settings: the Commons., the Workroom, and the Presentation room.

We seek 2 postdoctoral fellows, one for Toronto and one for Calgary, to start during the first half of 2005. Appointment is for 1 year with likely renewal for up to 2 further years. We seek individuals with Ph.D.s and strong expertise and backgrounds in qualitative and quantitative social science research methods. Toronto and Calgary are outstanding research universities in vibrant multicultural cities in a socially progressive country.

If interested, please send letter of interest and CV to rmb@kmdi.toronto.edu or saul@cpsc.ucalgary.ca or the Network Manager, Dr.
Lyn Bartram, lyn@cs.ubc.ca. Further information about NECTAR may be found at www.nectar-research.net.

If you are attending the ACM CSCW conference, many of the NECTAR members below are also attending. Leave a message for Ron Baecker and/or Saul Greenberg on the message board, or approach any NECTAR member to ask about our research.

NECTAR Members:
Ron Baecker, Principle Investigator (Toronto) Saul Greenberg, (Calgary) Carl Gutwin Theme leader (Saskatchewan) Ravin Balakrishan (Toronto) Sheelagh Carpendale (Calgary) Kori Inkpen (Dalhousie) Gerald Penn (Toronto) Kostas Platoniotis (Toronto) Elaine Toms (Dalhousie) Roel Vertegaal (Queen’s)

5 Nov 2004, positions subject to Board approval on 21 December 2004.
