Job Description
Job Family Responsibilities:
Evaluates very complex systems needs of staff and operating departments:
Interviews users to determine information needs and sources of required data. Develops, builds and supports very complex database systems required for the effective functioning of the department. Develops, tests, and modifies very complex internal application systems. Develops very complex systems, modules and/or approaches and required enhancements. Monitors the very complex coding, reviewing, preparing test data, testing and debugging and implementing of system building. Ensures that very complex documentation is completed for all systems designed or modified. Monitors very complex analysis and troubleshooting for various business applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs advanced areas of work for the professional field. Applies advanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently. Displays a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-functional problems.
Create screen design within given style, look & feel
Organize communication about front end design within UI team and other team e.g. programmers, art director etc.
Program interactive mock-ups for screens
Prepare test set-ups for UI validation
Support the Style Guide efforts
Support Integration efforts
Extend existing Style Guide principles into web-based clinical domain
Create UI Solution description and specification Work with the UI implementation team to ensure proper transition
Requirement engineering
Map requests and business needs - requirement definition and specification.
Support and conduct User analysis
Integrate stakeholder requests, marketing requests, general usability requirements (e.g. ISO criteria).
Reflect clinical workflow in the User Interface Design.
Complete module view with integration aspects
Support result validation with real users
Prepare UI education efforts
Coordinate needed team members
Education:
Typically BS/BA in related discipline or advanced degree. Certification may be required in some areas.
Knowledge and Experience:
Demonstrates and applies comprehensive knowledge of field of specialization to the successful completion of complex assignments. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization. Demonstrates significant knowledge of organization's business practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those issues. Typically 8-10 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.
Several years of Industrial Design or Communication Design, Cognitive Psychology, Computer Science or related experience
Clinical Background (e.g. nurse) preferred, but not required.
Familiar with software engineering
Good communication skills, open minded and creative, very methodical approach without losing the "big picture", capable of multitasking and organizing competing tasks, likes detailed work and having produced a lot, very good in visualizing concepts based on little input.
A basic understanding of systems concepts, techniques, tools, and standards as well as working knowledge of PC third-party products (MS Office, SQL,
etc.) required.
Direction of Others:
Provides specialized guidance or train support and/or professional staff.
Leadership qualities and role model qualities demonstrated.
Key Working Relationships:
Primarily intra-organizational contacts and external contacts.
