Usability Development Manager at First Choice Reports to: Channel Development Manager, E-Commerce
Based: Crawley, W Sussex
Salary: £27-30K
An exciting opportunity to practice user centred design (UCD) for the UK's most profitable tour operator.
The Usability Development Manager is responsible for
- Planning, managing and carrying out UCD activities across our main e-commerce propositions in the UK and Ireland (including firstchoice.co.uk, one of the UK's most popular e-commerce sites) This includes:
o stakeholder interviews
o persona definition, creation and refinement
o rapid prototyping, both paper- and screen-based
o usability and accessibility testing
o contributing to functional specification creation
- Developing the UCD and accessibility skills and understanding of a team of 4 people within Channel Development, as well as a broader audience of business stakeholders, IT project managers and technical developers
- Promoting the benefits of UCD across the business
- Enhancing our process to deliver the benefits of UCD
Required skills and experience:
- Hands-on experience of planning, managing and delivering UCD activities as listed above
- Solid understanding of project planning and project management
- Experience of coaching others in UCD techniques
- Demonstrated ability to work with variety of stakeholders at all levels of the business
- Ability to work independently or as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Solid understanding of web application technologies
- Min 2-3 years working in a commercially-driven e-commerce/web environment
- Min degree level education
- Travel industry experience not essential but desirable
