Department Description
The Usability & Interface Design Group at Oracle is a centralized organization of 60+ professionals composed of usability engineers, interaction designers, and graphics designers located in 3 offices (i.e., Redwood Shores, CA; Burlington, MA; and Reading, UK).
Brief Posting Description
Working with multiple development teams at a given time, will serve as UI Standards liaison between IDC in Hyderabad and UI department at headquarters. Will spearhead UI training and provide UI consulting for teams in India to help enforce UI standard compliance.
Responsibilities include communicating with development teams in IDC to evangelize UI design directions, reviewing products at concept, prototype, and live code phases, resolving design tradeoff and implementation issues, tracking review outcomes and bug fixes.
Position will grow to include designing and prototyping UI for interaction for new products and overseeing usability testing function in IDC. Will collaborate closely with designers and usability engineers in UI Standards team at headquarters.
Detailed Description
As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing requirements.
Job Requirements
Duties and tasks are varied and complex requiring independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. A minimum of four years of software engineering or related experience required.
Additional Details
*Must have a Master's degree in Industrial Design, Visual Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or other related discipline.
*Must have at least 2 years of industry experience designing and prototyping UI for interaction on products that will be shipped.
*Must have successful track record of going into new environments, quickly assessing needs, and delivering quality solutions.
*Must have online portfolio available for review.
*Strong conceptual skills and demonstrated ability to prototype and design elegant UI solutions to user problems.
*Experience in working on UI standards a plus.
*Proven track record in applying user-centered design processes and methods to product development.
*Strong communication and people skills in working in a multi- disciplinary, collaborative environment.
*Be willing to travel to the United States occasionally
