DIRECTOR, HUMAN-COMPUTER INTERACTION DESIGN PROGRAM
INDIANA UNIVERSITY, SCHOOL OF INFORMATICS
The Indiana University School of Informatics seeks a senior level professor (associate or full) to direct the program in Human-Computer Interaction Design starting August 2005. The director will play a significant role in the development, coordination and expansion of the existing undergraduate and masters programs and will guide the research programs and future curriculum development for a PhD degree program that is expected to start in the fall of 2005. Disciplinary backgrounds of candidates may include human-computer interaction, design, computer supported cooperative work, computer science, informatics, cognitive science and other cognate disciplines.
We are looking for a candidate who has significant experience in one or more areas of human-computer interaction design, including, but not limited to interaction design, usability, CSCW, ubiquitous computing, and design methods. The candidate should have demonstrated excellence in innovative research, a proven track record of research funding, and a strong publication record; evidence of the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment; sensitivity to the contribution of social and organizational informatics to human-computer interaction design research; strong leadership skills, excellence in interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills; participation and achievement in professional organizations; and proven distinction in university teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
