Human Experience Designer

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Helps evangelize a human-centered design (HCD) process throughout company. Works with teams to help them improve the overall user experience and to streamline aspects of development process related to the GUI. Ensures UI specifications are completed in the design phase and is responsible for user experience throughout product lifecycle.

Primary Role:
Design UIs based on user research, human-factors principles, platform style guides and industry experience in the form of high fidelity prototypes and formal UI specifications. Produce detailed UI specifications and guidelines to guide development efforts on new features, products and product lines including:
-Use cases
-Task analysis
-Class diagrams of UI objects
-Interaction models
-Screen layouts
-Supporting prototypes (hi and low fidelity)

Secondary Role:
Coordinate review processes and gather UI requirements via the following
mechanisms:
-UI reviews
-UI walkthroughs
-Participatory design sessions
-Lab studies
-Field studies
In addition, this individual will contribute to overall user experience project planning and infrastructure initiatives as well as mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications:
-Graduate level training in:
-Human Computer Interaction
-Human Factors
-Cognitive Psychology
-Other related discipline
-Five or more years experience doing data driven UI design in a high tech company.

Skills:
Strong experience in translating user data and human-factors principles into UI designs via prototypes, and detailed UI reviews/specifications.
Experience with developing user profiles, use cases, and scenarios. Must have experience in conducting task analyses, field studies, formal UI reviews, usability tests, and surveys. Demonstrated ability to learn complex technology. Must be a solid team player with good writing, presentation and project management skills. Must be able to generate business cases and identify priorities based on customer data to influence teams and upper management. Experience with IDEs, system/DB administration tools, B2Bi, EAI, and enterprise software a plus.
