The associate in this position will help formulate the navigation, functionality, organizational structure, page-to-page flow and design of the www.americanfunds and www.americanfundsretirement.com websites. Primary responsibilities include working with the Site Development team to determine functionality and navigation solutions for the websites in a manner that adheres to business requirements and rules; create wireframes and develop categorization, nomenclature and site maps; create or assist in prototype development; participate in research efforts to create and conduct usability tests; and work collaboratively with the lead designer, writer and coders on selected design assignments as required.
Hiring Criteria:
- A minimum of 2-3 years of information architect experience for a large and complex web site with a diverse user base, wireframe and prototype development/documentation, and application of site usage data is required.
- Broad understanding of the Web and associated technologies, a strong sense of Web design style and solid graphic design skills, and proficiency with software tools such as Visio, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Quark Xpress to create wireframes and prototypes, and HTML necessary.
- A proactive individual with strong oral and written communication skills including documentation and large team collaboration abilities, detail orientation, excellent organization and analytical and problem-solving skills required as well as the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a high level of service orientation.
- Knowledge of template-driven websites using a content management system and databases highly desired as well as an understanding of back-end development processes, issues and solutions.
- Degree in human/computer interaction, library/information science, information and visual design and/or technical communications preferred.
