Job Description :
Usability and Design
the duties are
performed for development and implementation of new business process Web
applications or modifications to existing process Web applications in the
context of User Interface, Information Architecture, and Use Model. The
duties that are outlined below are additional to the base Manager’s job
duties.

1. Act as liaison between Usability and Design staff and internal
and external business and systems partners.


2. Manage projects that require extensive knowledge of visual
communication techniques and usability research methodologies.


3. Manage work produced in a variety of formats including (but not
limited to) print, web and other visual design media.


4. Stay current on visual communication technologies, including
multi-media, print and web.


5. Research, plan, develop and manage User Interface development and
Usability research project strategies.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:


· Undergraduate degree in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology or
Computer Science with a focus on Human Factors Engineering and/or
Undergraduate degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or equivalent
field of study with some Human Factors experience. Masters degree
preferred.


· Experience with Web Design required.


· Expertise in Project management process, including documentation
and management of project lifecycle required. PMP certification preferred.


· Eight years of progressive experience in equivalent position
preferred.


Experience: Eight years of experience. Three years of experience in
management is preferred.

SUPPLEMENTAL SKILLS:


· Thorough knowledge of the web design process.


· Experienced in information architecture, interaction design, wire
frame models, HTML prototypes, design specifications and standards.


· Proven understanding and experience with web technologies, web
interface design, navigation, content presentation, User Centered Design
testing techniques and methodologies e.g., knowledge of usability research,
theories, and methodologies.


· Ability to communicate usability principles to all levels of the
organization


· Focus on the customer and end user


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Manages all activities and functions of a staff involved with the
analysis, definition, specification, development, testing, documentation
and installation of new and/or existing applications.


2. Manages a staff responsible for the analysis and validation of user and
system requirements as well as existing business processes and information
systems. Manages multiple groups involved in designing, developing and
implementing new programs and/or modifications of existing applications.
Manages a staff responsible for the creation of prototypes and other
methodologies for new and/or existing systems. Responsible for the
development and implementation of test plans and strategies.


3. Manages a staff responsible for the design, coding, testing, debugging,
documentation and implementation of software applications. Manages a staff
of software testers involved in a wide range of quality-control tests and
analyses to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and
end-user requirements.


4. Manages the activities associated with the definition and development of
specifications as well as the programming and quality testing of technical
modules, applications, prototypes and computer programs.


5. Manages one or more aspects of the systems development life cycle.


6. Manages a staff responsible for the planning, development and
implementation of strategies related to the systems development life cycle.
Manages a staff involved with the evaluation and consultation of technical
solutions for systems development life cycle problems and issues.


7. Determines user requirements, leads application design, plans projects,
establishes priorities and monitors progress. Evaluates project status and
resource utilization and implements changes to improve the team's
effectiveness. Ensures all projects are completed within time and budget
and are integrated with other software applications.


8. Responsible for feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, and the
establishment and implementation of new or revised applications systems and
programs.


9. Manages a staff involved in test planning, test requirement definition,
test design, test script, test data development, test automation, test
environment development and script configuration management as well as test
execution.


10. Leads in the development and implementation of the overall strategic
vision and integration of broad range ideas regarding business analysis,
systems analysis, applications development, and/or quality assurance and
testing capabilities.


11. Assists in the development and implementation of business analysis,
systems analysis, applications development, and quality assurance and
testing policies, standards, procedures and methodologies.


12. Position is a first-level manager and has direct responsibility for
people management. In addition to project deployment, responsibilities
include career development, performance management, and pay determination
and communication.
