Hi -
We have the following full-time, regular position open on our Usability
Team here at Macromedia in our San Francisco, CA office. As a member of
our Usability Team, you'll spend your time working with our customer-
focused product teams at all phases of the product development cycle,
and leading those teams in building more usable products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Work closely with product teams to define products that fit with
our customers’ goals and workflows.
* Educate product teams about user-centered design activities that
can be done at different phases of the product development cycle,
and lead product teams through these activities.
* Define, develop, lead, and analyze and report on results from
usability tests, contextual inquiries, design walkthroughs, paper
prototypes, interviews, surveys, and other usability methods.
* Develop new usability methods as necessary.
* Help identify, prioritize, track, and manage the resolution of
usability issues.
* Improve the usability of a variety of Macromedia technologies and
products including web publishing, communication, and training.
* Some travel required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Minimum of three years experience using usability methods to
improve desktop applications, web applications, and/or general
consumer products.
* Proven ability to lead product teams in a variety of user-centered
design activities including developing personas and usability
goals.
* Proven ability to define and carry out a variety of usability
evaluations, report on results, and manage the resolution of the
high priority issues.
* Able to define and manage both individual projects and usability
agendas for an entire product development cycle.
* Able to schedule your own time and multi-task among projects.
* Able to work independently (when defining usability evaluations)
and as part of a team (when leading user-centered design activities
for a product team and managing the resolution of usability
issues).
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Enjoys working with a variety of users including general consumers,
business users, and web designers and developers.
* Enjoys working with new technologies.
* A passion for great experiences on the web. (That’s our business!)
* A degree in Human Factors or related field.
